Fire destroys Golden Fund of Abkhaz artists in Sukhumi

A fire broke out in the main exhibition hall of Sukhumi during the night, destroying the Golden Fund of Abkhaz artists, the local media reported.

The firemen believe the fire originated on the roof of the building, possibly due to the electrical wiring.

So-called acting Minister of Culture of occupied Abkhazia said that more than 4,000 copies, including approximately 300 works by Alexander Chachba-Shervashidze, were burned in the fire.
