At the ongoing Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina, Georgian figure skater Anastasia Gubanova delivered a compelling free skate in the women’s individual competition.
Following her short programme, Gubanova had scored 71.77 points. In the free skate, she earned 138.22 points, bringing her total to 209.99 and securing ninth place overall. This marked an improvement on her previous Olympic performance in Beijing, where she finished tenth.
The gold medal was claimed by American Alysa Liu, who finished with a total of 226.79 points. Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto took silver with 224.90 points, while fellow Japanese skater Ami Nakai claimed bronze with 219.16.
Gubanova’s performance marked the end of Georgia’s journey at these Games. The Georgian team achieved a historic milestone, with Luka Berulava and Anastasia Metelkina securing a silver medal in the pairs event.
Additionally, the Georgian team performed admirably in the figure skating team competition, finishing in fourth place.
