Farmers protested at Chalaubani village on the Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe highway, saying they could not sell tons of wheat from last year’s crops and demanding the government to impose taxes on the imported wheat flour.
The protestors also stated that if local produce growth is not promoted, they will cease farming since they will be unable to repay their bank debts.
Farmers symbolically spilt a ton of wheat and threatened large-scale protests if the government did not address their concerns.
