Ex-President Saakashvili rallies supporters: Georgia will be liberated very soon; lift your spirits and get to work

“Georgia will be liberated very soon, and alongside it, those unjustly imprisoned will regain their freedom,” declared former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili in a social media post urging supporters to reject defeatism.

According to Saakashvili, narrative trends circulating in the media and political discourse serve only to entrench hopelessness.

“I appeal to the media and the wider public: for heaven’s sake, stop amplifying absolute nonsense by declaring that ‘so-and-so will end up in prison for many years’ or that ‘this political prisoner will only walk free in 2035.’

Do you not realise that by doing so, you are resigning yourselves to the perpetual despotism of a single family? Do you not understand that you are cementing defeatism and despair, playing right into the hands of the dictatorship?!

Georgia will be liberated very soon, and with it, those unjustly held in captivity will be set free. So lift your spirits, stop moping, and get to work,” Saakashvili wrote.
