European Democrats party Chair reports to fact-finding commission meeting
The fact-finding commission investigating the 2003-2012 government is hearing from Paata Davitaia, Chair of the European Democrats party, who chaired the interim commission on the August 2008 War in the 7th Convocation Parliament.
According to Paata Davitaia, when military activities ended, studying several issues became necessary.
“This was the opposition’s request. I held the post of the parliamentary minority leader at that time. The opposition urged for the establishment of an interim investigation commission and there is public evidence.
We agreed to establish a parliamentary commission, as the balance of power provided no alternative. It was contingent upon the goodwill of the majority to create this commission. Consequently, both the parliamentary majority and minority decided to form an interim parliamentary committee instead of a fact-finding commission,” he stated.
