Eurooptimists believe Georgia to be on verge of demographic disaster
Opposition MPs Khatia Dekanoidze and Roman Gotsiridze from the Eurooptimists political group, believe that Georgia is on the verge of a demographic disaster.
At the presentation on migration issues, Roman Gotsiridze highlighted the demographic crisis in Georgia, pointing out that the country’s population is reducing due to significant migration processes and a decline in the birth rate.
He emphasized that migration is one of the major challenges facing the country, as more people leave Georgia than enter each year.
“Last year, 46.4 Georgian citizens left the country than returned, which is the highest indicator of the negative migration balance recorded in 2012-2022,” he said.
Opposition MPs suggested that the main solution to this problem lies in implementing a socio-economic policy that improves the standard of living, leading to population stabilization.
