EU to call up Georgian ambassador to make clear EU position and demand follow up, EU Ambassador says

EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell informed that the Georgian Ambassador to the EU was called up to a meeting in Brussels at EU Headquarters on Tuesday regarding alleged leaked security files.

Carl Hartzell says the position of the European Union was made clear to the Ambassador and, also, demands to see the follow up appropriately were voiced.

“You have seen the reaction early on coming from Brussels to the effect of the EU taking these instances very seriously. Because in the end, it is questionable from the point of view of, as you know, the Vienna Convention guiding diplomatic relations, and we will not see it as natural that a close friend and partner such as Georgia would be engaged in these types of activities against us. For this reason, yesterday, the Georgian Ambassador to the EU was called up to a meeting in Brussels at EU Headquarters, where this position of the European Union was made clear and, also, demands to see this follow up appropriately,” Carl Hartzell stated.
