“Today is not the time for the European Union to view Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova through the keyhole of criticism – today is the time for a political decision,” Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said.
According to Papuashvili, the EU opened the opportunity and speeded up the process. The EU gave a hint to Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova that it is ready for the political decision.
Parliament Speaker further said the ruling Georgian Dream party planned to apply for the EU membership in 2024. As of now, the opposition and many others look at this process with irony and scepticism.
The European Council will revert to preparing opinions on EU membership applications of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia during the meeting in June.
