EU Integration Committee Chair warns of responsibility for undermining investigative commission's mandate
“Everyone should be prepared to bear responsibility since disregarding society and law will lead to an appropriate response,” said Levan Makhashvili, European Integration Committee Chair, remarking on politicians who were imposed bail for non-attendance of the parliamentary temporary investigative commission, studying activities of the 2003-2012 government and its officials.
According to Makhashvili, it is up to politicians to decide on possible consequences.
“It is up to these people which strategy or stance they take. However, everyone should be prepared to bear responsibility since disregarding society and law will lead to an appropriate response. They decide if they are prepared for the consequences, whether they will or not pay the bail. They violate the law. This cannot be justified with the argument that they protest against something. The law should be respected,” Makhashvili stated.
