EU Integration Committee Chair: MEGOBARI Act seeks to position Georgia as geopolitical confrontation new centre

“The MEGOBARI Act endorsed by the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee is nothing more than a piece of paper that may never come to fruition,” Levan Makhashvili, the European Integration Committee Chair, told the GPB First Channel.

Makhashvili regards the MEGOBARI Act as a hostile initiative.

“Every clause of this act aims solely to transform Georgia into a new centre of geopolitical confrontation. If the supporters of this act in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee or the Georgian opposition recognize this, they must take responsibility for the potential consequences of its implementation. I firmly believe that this act will not see the light of day; it is merely a decision of one committee. It has a long way to go and is unlikely to be enacted,” he asserted.
