EU Integration Committee Chair meets Bundestag member

The Chair of the EU Integration Committee Maka Botchorishvili and her first Deputy, Levan Karumidze, on Monday, held a meeting with the member of the German Bundestag, Robin Wagener.

According to the Parliament’s press office, the parties overviewed the bilateral relations and Germany’s role in the democratic, economic, and social development of Georgia, underscoring the cooperation between the legislative bodies and the prospects to further bolster parliamentary links.

The conversation included the EU integration of Georgia, compliance with the EU recommendations, and the reforms in this context. The parties underlined the special role of Germany in facilitating the EU integration of Georgia.

Mr. Wagener affirmed his support for Georgia’s European aspiration noting that Germany intends to further back the nation in the EU approximation process.

“It is imperative for us to see our partners well realizing the challenges that Georgia encounters. We also are aspired to further intensify communication and cooperation with Germany on key issues. The role of Germany as an EU member state in our EU integration is immense. Germany is committed to further supporting us expressed in supporting Georgia in the bilateral relations as well as in the relations with the EU,” Botchorishvili noted.

Botchorishvili thanked her German colleague for his unwavering support to the democratic development and EU integration, as well as Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
