EU Integration Committee Chair: German Foreign Office removes information identifying Salome Zourabichvili as Georgian President from its website

“It is a fact that, just a few days after the departure of the previous German ambassador, the information was removed from the German Foreign Office’s website, and the Georgian ambassador was allowed to present his credentials to the German President in the near future,” said Levan Makhashvili, Chair of the parliamentary European Integration Committee.

Makhashvili remarked on the removal of the information from the webpage of the German Foreign Office identifying Salome Zourabichvili as Georgian President.

“We will see the next steps to be taken by Germany. We hope the information will be updated shortly. It turned out that it was not a technical error. Former German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer completed his diplomatic mission in Georgia in June.

Aleksandre Kartozia was appointed Georgian Ambassador to Germany in September of 2025. He will present his credentials to the German President on July 23.
