EU Integration Committee Chair: Georgia has many patriotic people willing to contribute to political activities

“We have many sincere, warm-hearted and patriotic people who are willing to contribute to the political life,” said Levan Makhashvili, Chair of the parliamentary EU Integration Committee.

According to Makhashvili, the emergence of new parties is prevented by the National Movement and its affiliated political forces monopolizing the opposition space.

He said the fact-finding commission would submit its opinion to the Constitutional Court to demand annulling the National Movement and its affiliated parties even for the local self-governance elections to eliminate destructive forces and allow sincere politicians to enter the political life to ensure “healthy resource” for the country’s future building.

“It is our responsibility. Society witnessed their statements that they did not intend to participate in the local self-governance elections. Even if they participate, they have zero chance due to their activities since they have done everything in the last years except for caring for their voters and population. Even if theoretically, we would see their masks off since they have no support from people,” he said.
