EU-Georgia Association Parliamentary Committee positively assesses the progress achieved by Georgia in 2014-2018
The 8th session of the co-chairs of the EU-Georgia Association Parliamentary Committee, led by the Chair of the EU Integration Committee of Georgian Parliament Tamar Khulordava and European Parliament member Sajjad Karim has been held today.
According to the Georgian Parliament’s Press Office, a number of issues have been discussed, including: implementation of the Association Agreement, the ongoing and planned democratic reforms, human rights protection, perspectives of the deep and comprehensive free trade agreement, agriculture development, cooperation with the EU in the field of energy.
According to the Parliament of Georgia, EU-Georgia Association Parliamentary Committee positively assessed the progress achieved by Georgia in 2014-2018.
According to Tamar Khulordava, Georgia has successfully passed a long path of rapprochement with the European Union during the last 4-5 years.
The Georgian achievements in the European integration process have been emphasized, the most important of which are the EU-Georgian Association Agreement and agreement on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area ( DCFTA ). One of the important achievements of cooperation with the EU is the introduction of visa-free travel, which has already allowed more than 300,000 Georgian citizens to move freely in the Schengen Area.
According to the Press Office of the Parliament of Georgia, at the end of the session, the EU-Georgia Association Parliamentary Committee adopted a joint statement and recommendations where all important issues with regard to Georgia were reflected.
