EU Ambassador: EU does not support violence, looting, vandalism or throwing Molotov cocktails
“The European Union has never supported violence such as the throwing of Molotov cocktails in Georgia or any other country,” said European Union Ambassador to Georgia Paweł Herczyński at the press conference following the presentation of the 2026 Enlargement Package in the European Parliament.
According to the EU Ambassador, this “outrageous situation in which we find ourselves today, where Georgia’s accession to the European Union has effectively come to a halt, is precisely part of this smear campaign.”
The Ambassador urged Georgian politicians and Georgian journalists not to participate in this anti-European rhetoric.
“I have said many times that, and I will repeat again: The European Union does not support violence, looting, vandalism or throwing Molotov Cocktails. Claiming the opposite is part of the smear campaign directed at the EU, something that should stop in order to rebuild trust and resume dialogue, the very dialogue that the Prime Minister was asking for yesterday,” he said.
