Emergency Management Service issues statement on search and rescue efforts for missing person in Mtkvari River
The Emergency Management Service has announced that, as part of ongoing search and rescue operations for a missing individual in the Mtkvari River, artificial water level reduction is scheduled to take place on February 16 and 17. This will involve lowering the water level in the riverbed from the Ortachali HPP bridge to Rustavi to its natural state, which will cause a gradual rise in water levels within the area.
The Emergency Management Service urges the public to exercise caution and avoid the vicinity of the riverbed between the Ortachali HPP bridge and Rustavi.
“Up to 200 firefighters from the Emergency Management Service will be involved in the operation, alongside diving teams, watercraft, and aircraft,” the Service stated.
