Economy Minister meets with Armenian Infrastructure Minister Davit Khudatyan on regional connectivity and trade

On the sidelines of the ongoing Georgia International Maritime Forum (GIMF 2026) in Batumi, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili met with Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan.

The two ministers discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in trade, economics, energy, transport (civil aviation and rail), and tourism, and outlined priorities for future joint initiatives.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, both sides highlighted the close transport partnership and coordinated efforts between Georgia and Armenia to ensure uninterrupted freight and passenger transit.

During the meeting, both ministers noted that dynamic bilateral cooperation is yielding tangible gains across transport indicators.

Special attention was given to the aviation sector: direct scheduled passenger traffic between Georgia and Armenia surged by 36% between January and July 2026. A total of 12 direct flights per week currently connect Yerevan with Georgia’s two main international airports. The delegates also explored launching direct scheduled flights between Kutaisi International Airport and Yerevan.

The bilateral talks were also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze and Director of the Maritime Transport Agency Ivane Abashidze.
