Economy Minister meets U.S. business mission to explore cooperation opportunities

Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili met with representatives of a U.S. business mission organised by the Department of Commerce to discuss bilateral and regional cooperation opportunities.

The meeting took place at a reception organised by U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Alan Pursell, attended by representatives from Georgian business and government circles.

The minister emphasised the importance of bilateral strategic partnership, noting that Georgia is interested in resetting relations with the United States and restoring strategic cooperation. Mariam Kvrivishvili highlighted major infrastructure projects being implemented with Georgian government investment that aim to strengthen the country’s transit function.

According to the minister, the implementation of projects such as the East-West Highway, railway modernisation, upgraded port infrastructure, and others will support Georgia’s development and reinforce its role in the Middle Corridor initiative, while also enhancing the route’s competitiveness.

The minister noted that such meetings help bring bilateral business circles closer together and improve trade and economic relations between countries.

It has been stated at the meeting that American businesspeople have visited Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, gaining insight into opportunities within the Middle Corridor region across trade, energy, infrastructure, and logistics sectors.

The visit was carried out through collaboration between the U.S. Department of Commerce, the American-Georgian Business Council (AGBC), the U.S.-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Georgia, the American business visit strengthens U.S.-Georgia cooperation in critical infrastructure, digital commerce, new technologies, transport and logistics. According to the embassy’s information, the American business visit underscores the United States’ commitment to deepening economic partnership and strengthening regional connections.
