Economy Minister: Growing interest from major French companies in Georgia is highly encouraging

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili held a meeting with a delegation from France’s largest business association, MEDEF.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the delegation included representatives of around 20 major French business groups and companies implementing projects across various regions worldwide, including Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

The Minister briefed the French business representatives on current trends in the Georgian economy, as well as ongoing and planned reforms and major projects. Discussions covered sectors such as transport and logistics, ports, energy, and tourism.

Mariam Kvrivishvili emphasized that Georgia welcomes French investment across different sectors of the economy. She highlighted Georgia’s role in developing the Middle Corridor route, particularly the transport, logistics, and infrastructure projects underway to support this initiative. These include a railway modernization project, within which it is planned to renew rolling stock and locomotive fleets. The discussion also addressed the Anaklia deep-water port project and the construction of a new Tbilisi International Airport in Vaziani.

According to the Minister, the Georgian government plans to invest approximately $7 billion in transport infrastructure in the coming years, aiming to ensure comprehensive development of the sector.

Concluding the meeting, the Minister described the talks with the French delegation as productive and expressed hope that major French companies would show increased interest in Georgia’s transport and logistics modernization efforts, as well as invest in other sectors of the economy.
