Economy Minister: Energy cooperation is key pillar of regional partnership and Georgia-Azerbaijan-Turkey relations
At the 7th Georgia-Azerbaijan-Turkey Business Forum, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili highlighted the strategic importance of energy cooperation between the three countries and flagship projects in this sector, particularly the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline and the South Caucasus gas pipeline.
“Energy cooperation is a key pillar of our regional partnership and one of the most important directions of our relations. Over the years, we have jointly implemented oil and gas pipeline projects, strengthening regional energy security and deepening the connection between our region and European markets,” Mariam Kvrivishvili stated.
The Minister also emphasized upcoming energy connectivity initiatives, including the “Green Energy Corridor” and the “Black Sea Submarine Cable Project.” She noted that these projects will link Georgia and the South Caucasus countries to the EU electricity market, further enhancing regional and European energy security.
“Each of these projects is designed with a regional perspective, and their development will boost the economic attractiveness of the entire region. Strengthened cooperation with partners like Azerbaijan and Turkey remains essential. The strategic goals of our governments will be further advanced through close collaboration between businesses and the implementation of ambitious, innovative initiatives, where the private sector plays a decisive role,” Kvrivishvili said.
The forum, held in Tsinandali, focuses on cooperation between the private sectors of Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey across various industries. About 400 delegates attended, including roughly 300 representatives of major companies.
