Droa party leader says police use disgracing method, violence against her

Elene Khoshtaria, leader of the Droa party claims that in Dighomi detention cell, the police used a Russian degrading her dignity method and physically abused her.

As Elene Khoshtaria mentioned in the letter published on the social network, she “avoids sharing her case or emotions” amid the situation when many youngsters are victims of torture by this regime” but decided to speak about her experience.

“I realize that if they treated me like that, they will treat others much worse. This is not new or something unusual, however, speaking publicly is the weapon for solidarity with each other.

After detention in the police department on Ramishvili Street, police officers Nino Chkhartishvili and Davit Bolotashvili, soon after I refused to cooperate with them, handcuffed my hands tight behind my back. Then Nino Chkhartishvili and Davit Bolotashvili hit me in my jaws. I did not betray your expectations, my friends, I learnt how to sing ‘Ole Ola.’

A more degrading episode occurred in Dighomi detention isolator when against my will, the brigade called by the police tied by hands. Two police officers (Nino Chkhartishvili, Salome Lashkhia and one more) forced me to go naked. This forcible nakedness practice is the Russian awful method of degrading dignity and physical violence.

And here I also learnt well and I imagined all those defenceless and inexperienced people, who turn into their hands. Some fear speaking about that, some are ashamed to go into details of this sensitive issue. However, we must speak out, disclose all facts and eliminate such treatment against people.

I once again apologize for speaking about myself amid many problems, but I thought that the course of affairs requires that, I disregard my discomfort, I am fine in comparison to so many innocent people kept behind bars for months. Thank you for your support,” she wrote.

Elene Khoshtaria was detained during the March 28 public protest at the parliament on a charge of administrative law violations.
