Direct air traffic between Georgia and Slovakia commences
Regular direct flights between the Slovak capital and Georgia have now begun.
According to the Georgian Airports Association (GAA), Wizz Air operates a tri-weekly service on the Bratislava-Kutaisi-Bratislava route, with a fourth flight set to be added from March. The flights are operated using modern Airbus A321neo aircraft.
Until now, there has been no direct air connection between Georgia and Slovakia. The launch of this route marks the first-ever direct air link between the two countries.
Bratislava, a key air hub in Central Europe, is strategically located at the shortest distance from Vienna and Budapest. This favourable geographical position offers new opportunities for Georgian travellers, facilitating easier tourist, cultural, and economic exchanges.
Currently, Wizz Air operates from Kutaisi International Airport to 24 destinations across 12 countries. These include Lyon, which will be introduced in summer 2025, and at the end of this year, the airline launched direct flights to Venice. Since commencing operations in Georgia in 2012, Wizz Air has transported nearly 9 million passengers to and from the country.
