Deputy Interior Minister meets with Head of IOM’s Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, held an introductory meeting with Arthur Erken, the Head of the International Organisation for Migration’s (IOM) Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia. The meeting was also attended by Lars Johan Lönnback, the Head of the IOM Mission to Georgia.

The discussion centred on the projects supported under the existing cooperation framework, as well as the key areas for future collaboration.

According to the ministry, special attention was given to the latest legislative amendments in the field of migration.

In the context of these legislative changes, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze highlighted the effective measures undertaken by the agency to combat illegal migration.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude to Arthur Erken and the IOM leadership for their longstanding contributions to strengthening the capacities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
