Deputy Economy Minister meets with U.S. Assistant Secretary of Energy Tommy Joyce

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Inga Pkhaladze met with the Acting Assistant Secretary for the Office of International Affairs of the U.S. Department of Energy, Tommy Joyce, as reported by the Ministry of Economy.

According to the Ministry, the meeting took place in Athens, Greece, during the 6th Ministerial of the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC).

The discussion centred on potential collaboration between Georgia and the United States to enhance regional and global energy security.

The Deputy Minister provided a detailed overview of recent developments in Georgia’s energy sector, including major infrastructure projects and other pressing issues.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the parties paid particular attention to energy security amid ongoing developments across Eurasia. It was emphasised that Georgia is a dependable partner in regional energy initiatives, facilitating the transportation of South Caucasus energy resources, such as oil and gas, to European Union markets. The development of the Green Energy Corridor and Georgia’s prominent role as a key participant in this route were also highlighted.

“We are actively involved in the Green Energy Corridor’s development, which will bolster energy security in both Europe and the South Caucasus region,’” Inga Pkhaladze stated.

The meeting also explored opportunities for introducing innovative energy technologies and further advancing Georgia’s energy infrastructure.
