Deputy Economy Minister announces signing of memorandum to initiate negotiations on bilateral investment agreement with Saudi Arabia
Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Genadi Arveladze, met with Faris Al Garni, Deputy Minister for Policy and Legislation Development at Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Investment.
According to the Ministry of Economy’s press service, the meeting held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, centred on key aspects of economic cooperation between the two countries, including collaboration in the investment sector. The officials discussed opportunities to deepen bilateral investment relations and take steps towards signing a relevant agreement.
“We have agreed with the Deputy Minister of Investment to sign a memorandum marking the start of negotiations for a cooperation agreement in the investment sector. Saudi Arabia is a significant economic partner, and we welcome the prospect of deepening our ties. Over recent years, the volume of investments from Saudi Arabia into Georgia has been increasing; in 2024, it rose by 263%, and in the first half of 2025, by 70%. Once the bilateral investment agreement is signed, we anticipate further investment flows from Saudi Arabia,” stated the Deputy Minister.
As part of his visit, Genadi Arveladze also met with Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Abduljabbar, Acting Governor of the General Authority for Foreign Trade (GAFT) of Saudi Arabia. The discussion centred on mechanisms to promote exports, as well as exploring opportunities to organise bilateral trade missions, business forums, and various activities aimed at fostering economic cooperation.
