Deputy Economy Minister announces rapid progress on new 3.5 km runway at Kutaisi International Airport

“The Kutaisi Airport holds strategic importance for the nation, with both passenger traffic and flight frequencies increasing annually. It is vital for the growth of Georgia’s economy, as well as its tourism and aviation industries,” stated Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.

Mariam Kvrivishvili emphasised that the construction of the new 3.5 km runway at Kutaisi International Airport is progressing at full speed. This addition will enable the airport to accommodate larger jets, opening new horizons for its operations.

“The ongoing infrastructure developments in Kutaisi will further enhance and expand the airport’s capabilities. It will be able to handle even more flights and larger aircraft without limitations,” she affirmed.

Kvrivishvili also highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to advancing infrastructure in the aviation and tourism sectors to bolster their growth and global connectivity.
