Deputy Culture Minister meets Rio de Janeiro State Secretary on working visit to Brazil

As part of his working visit to the Federative Republic of Brazil, Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Giorgi Mirtskhulava, has met with Danielle Barros, the State Secretary for Culture and Creative Economy (SECEC-RJ) for the State Government of Rio de Janeiro.

According to the Ministry of Culture of Georgia, both parties highlighted the vital significance of the memorandum of understanding on cultural cooperation signed during the ongoing visit, which paves the way for new opportunities in bilateral relations with Brazil.

Giorgi Mirtskhulava noted that Georgia attaches great importance to further deepening cultural ties with Brazil, expressing particular appreciation for Rio de Janeiro’s role as one of the country’s most prominent cultural hubs.

The two sides expressed their mutual readiness to forge new partnerships and strengthen cooperation across various cultural disciplines. Particular focus was placed on supporting cinema, theatre, museum exchanges, literature, and creative initiatives.

Highlighting the successful cultural projects already delivered between Georgia and Brazil, the Deputy Minister announced that the State Academic Ensemble “Rustavi” will perform a concert at the Claro Mais Theatre in Rio de Janeiro as part of the ongoing Days of Georgian Culture.

The Georgian delegation at the meeting included the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Federative Republic of Brazil, Zurab Mchedlishvili, embassy officials, and the Head of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Culture, Zurab Bakuradze. Representing the Brazilian side were Bruno de Queiroz Costa, the Deputy State Secretary for International Relations for the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and Adriana Novis, the International Cooperation Coordinator within the SUBRI for the State Government of Rio de Janeiro.
