Davit Zalkaliani – Russia constantly uses various issues to influence changes of Geneva format

The Russian Federation constantly uses various issues to influence changes of the format of internationally mediated Geneva negotiations – Davit Zalkaliani, Georgian Foreign Minister commented in response to the statement of Gregoriy Karasin, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister.

According to Zalkaliani, the accent was previously made on UN Resolution with that purpose, now Russia speculates with the so-called Tatunashvili-Otkhozoria list.

“Talks about disruption of the format are not new. However, continuation of the format has full support from Georgia’s international partners and co-chairmen of negotiations,” Zalkaliani stated.

Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Karasin voiced the issue of return of IDPs and Tatunashvili-Otkhozoria list during the meeting with EU representative. Official Moscow believes that similar initiatives will make relations of Tbilisi with Sokhumi and Tskhinvali tenser.
