Davit Gabaidze elected Chairman of Adjara Supreme Council

Davit Gabaidze will Chair the Adjara Supreme Council of the 5th Convocation.

Gabaidze was elected for the second term. Fourteen members of the Council, all of them from the ruling Georgian Dream Party, participated in the secret ballot. Seven opposition members continue boycotting the Council work.

Gabaidze said he would closely cooperate with the non-governmental sector to inquire about different viewpoints amid the absence of the opposition. He also plans to introduce a petition format over different initiatives from the citizens’ groups.

“If the opposition takes up its seats, we will cooperate. It is up to them to decide. We have worked without opposition for the last four years. The Council’s work would have no problems,” Gabaidze said.
