Cultural Heritage Preservation Agency: Heavy rains inflict no damage to Svetitskhoveli frescos

The National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia released a statement, which says that as a result of heavy rains, water infiltrated the southern part of Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. However, no damage has been inflicted to the cathedral and frescos.

According to the Agency, monitoring groups have been dispatched to the site to assess the situation. “The Agency together with specialists work on to-be carried out activities to prevent re-infiltration of the water into the cathedral” reads the statement.
