Cultural Heritage Agency terminates contract for Gergeti Trinity Church rehabilitation
The National Agency for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Georgia has terminated its contract with Java Construction LLC, the company responsible for the rehabilitation of the Gergeti Trinity Church Complex, due to significant violations.
The agency cited delays and failure to adhere to the agreed plan and schedule as reasons for the termination.
According to the agency, the contract, worth 614,000 GEL, was signed on February 27, 2024, but key tasks, such as starting roof construction, were not initiated by the August 2, 2024, deadline. As a result, the agency has imposed a 73,680 GEL penalty on Java Construction LLC.
A new tender for the rehabilitation of the Gergeti Trinity Church Complex, a cultural heritage site of national importance, will be announced soon.
The project includes extensive restoration and conservation work on the church, its dome, and other structures within the complex.
