Covid-19 patients and people under isolation to be able to vote

The Covid-infected individuals in inpatient facilities and people under isolation will be able to cast their ballots in the October 2 local elections.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) decided to set up a special polling station in 73 constituencies for citizens infected with the coronavirus.

CEC Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili stated that quarantined and self-isolating voters should be provided with an opportunity to cast a ballot.

“Naturally, polling stations should be open in inpatient and quarantine facilities to ensure voting accessibility for Covid-19 patients,” said Giorgi Kalandarishvili.

The majority of CEC members also backed the raise in payroll for the employees of those special-risk polling places.
