UNM Chair Nika Melia trial at Tbilisi City Court

Tbilisi City Court will trial UNM Chair Nika Melia’s case on Thursday at 11 am.

The lawyers plan to file a motion at the court hearing but do not disclose its scope before the trial. Asked whether they will appeal about changing detention restraint, the lawyer Giorgi Kondakhishvili answered that the court should initiate this issue on its own.

Tbilisi City Court ruled imprisonment for Nika Melia, United National Movement (UNM) party Chairman, this February. Melia has been accused of organizing mass violence during anti-government protests in 2019. UNM leader denies the charges. Melia was arrested on February 23.
