Court discusses issue of revising the measure of restraint against 11 people detained into Giorgi Shakarashvili's death case

The Mtskheta District Court is discussing the issue of revising the measure of restraint against 11 people detained in connection with Giorgi Shakarashvili’s case.

The prosecutor’s office demands to prolong pre-trial detention, while the defence demands the release of the accused on bail.

The investigation is underway into the facts of premeditated murder, organizing and participating in group violence, deprivation of liberty and violence in the aggravating circumstances.

The 17 individuals are detained into death case of 19-year-old footballer Giorgi Shakarashvili.

Shakarashvili went missing while at a friend’s birthday party in Mtskheta, a town outside of Tbilisi, early on June 19.  His dead body was found in the river Aragvi after a four-day search, on June 22.
