Convict Giorgi Davitadze’s family, relatives, supporters protest at Special Penitentiary Service

Family members, relatives and supporters of Convict Giorgi Davitadze are holding a protest at the Special Penitentiary Service in Tbilisi.

The protest participants condemn the alleged torture and ill-treatment of prisoners in the penitentiary system and demand the release of full video footage.

The family also demands the immediate criminal prosecution of all individuals involved in the crime and the resignation of the Rustavi #6 Penitentiary Facility Head.

Members of the United National Movement (UNM) party, Irakli Pavlenishvili and Lasha Parulava, joined the protest.

The Special Penitentiary Service categorically denies fabricated claims made by convict Giorgi Davitadze alleging that staff at Rustavi #6 Penitentiary Facility committed sexual assault against him.
