Congressman Michael McCaul: GD's Ivanishvili accountable for dragging Georgia towards autocracy

Congressman Michael McCaul, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives welcomed the decision to sanction the Georgian Dream’s Honorary Chair Bidzina Ivanishvili.

“I welcome these long-overdue sanctions on Georgian Dream’s puppet master, Bidzina Ivanishvili. He and his party must be held accountable for dragging Georgia down a path towards autocracy and away from the transatlantic future that the Georgian people want and deserve,” he wrote on the X Platform.

On December 27, the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed financial sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and honorary chairman of the Georgian Dream (GD) party.
