The Communications Commission (ComCom), backed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the National Centre for Teacher Professional Development (TPDC), has launched its inaugural competition: “Become a Media Literacy Trainer”.
According to a press release by the Communications Commission, the project aims to cultivate highly qualified media literacy trainers who will apply their acquired expertise across educational settings and foster media literacy competencies among diverse target audiences.
The competition is open from 7 September to 21 September to anyone with a background in teaching, corporate training, or educational delivery who possesses a keen interest in media literacy.
Ten winning candidates will undergo a specialised Training of Trainers (ToT) programme to earn official status as certified media literacy trainers upon completion.
To qualify, candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree, possess experience in teaching or other educational activities, and demonstrate relevant knowledge or practical experience in media literacy.
Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in teaching media or digital literacy, participating in educational initiatives, creating curriculum materials, or working with diverse age and professional groups.
Prospective applicants must complete the online registration form, where they can review the full submission guidelines and upload their CV, a copy of their higher education degree, and a 2–5 minute video statement addressing the topic: “Why I want to become a media literacy trainer”.
