CoE Secretary General's 33rd consolidated report Conflict in Georgia reviewed in Strasbourg

On April 29, 2026, the 1558th sitting of the Committee of Ministers at the Deputy level of the Council of Europe, reviewed the CoE Secretary General’s 33rd consolidated report Conflict in Georgia in Strasbourg.

Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia participated in the sitting. CoE Secretary General Alain Berset presented the report.

The report covers the period from October 2025 to March 2026 and reflects various developments in the occupied territories, security across the Administrative Boundary Line (ANL), human rights and humanitarian situation.

Lasha Darrsalia addressed the sitting participants. He focused on the occupying regime’s destructive activities and emphasised the need for IDPs’ return to their homes. He touched on decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and dynamics of the Geneva International Discussions (GID).

The Deputy FM reconfirmed the Georgian government’s commitment to resolving territorial conflicts peacefully.

The CoE Secretary General, in his turn, reiterated unwavering support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Following the sitting, Lasha Darrsalia and Alain Berset held a meeting to review key issues of cooperation.
