CoE Committee of Ministers reiterates unwavering, unconditional support for Georgia's sovereignty, territorial integrity

At the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE), its 46 member states reiterated unwavering and unconditional support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

According to Tamar Taliashvili, Georgia’s Ambassador to the CoE, the decision is a clear response to Russia’s occupation of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.

“Member states called on Russia, as the force which holds effective control on Georgia’s occupied territories, to ensure the protection of human and fundamental rights of people in occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions. Also, the Committee welcomed the results of the CoE Reykjavik historic summit, within the scope of which, the CoE leaders collectively called on Russia to fulfil the internationally taken commitments and pull out its forces from Georgia’s territory,” she said.
