Citizens party to demand establishment of facts-finding commission on covert recordings
The parliamentary opposition Citizens party demands to establish an interim facts-finding commission in the parliament over covert recordings.
Aleko Elisashvili, Leader of Citizens said the question if the recently released recording was authentic remained unanswered.
According to Elisashvili, even if the investigation was launched, it would not be objective. “It is primarily in the interest of the Georgian Dream party to have all the questions answered. I urge the opposition to help to realize this initiative that requires 30 votes,” Elisashvili said.
On March 6, TV Pirveli released a secret audio recording, according to which, Bera Ivanishvili (son of the former GD party Chair) together with Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, ordered the punishment of several people, including a child, because of unwanted comments in the social network.
