Citizens Party leader: Several police officers abused me, but no one has been charged
“I want to tell you how our government turned into a violent regime, a terrorist organization, which protects brutality and inspires violence,” said Aleko Elisashvili, leader of the Citizens Party.
According to Elisashvili, several police officers physically abused him at the Government Administration on April 17. He said that five policemen, whose identification is possible from the video footage, physically assaulted him. However, the Special Investigation Service neither charged anyone so far nor granted him a victim status.
“I am an ordinary citizen, but I am a member of the parliament protected by the immunity per the Constitution. The government and investigation service do not care about my case. This violent government inspires police officers to feel safe and extort violence not only on MPs but also on protestors. It is the country we live in,” he said.
