Chiatura miners, employed by the Georgian Manganese company, keep protesting outside the parliament building in Tbilisi. Protesters announced a large gathering this evening at 7 PM.
The miners rejected a proposal by Georgian Manganese, which earlier released a statement offering to hand over control of the Chiatura mines to the miners’ management in the case of a consensus.
The demonstrators clarify that their primary objective is not to assume management responsibilities but to address their 14 demands, which include a 20% salary increase and decent, safe working conditions.
On June 22, Georgian Manganese released a statement expressing its readiness to transfer the control of the Chiatura mines to the miners’ management in case of a consensus and a commitment to assuming responsibility.
