Chaladidi residents stage protest over total water outage following months of erratic supply

Local residents gathered in the centre of Chaladidi to stage a demonstration after enduring erratic water supplies throughout the summer, culminating in a complete shut-off over the past five days.

Demonstrators stated that the ongoing outage has severely disrupted their daily lives and basic living conditions.

According to local community members, they have repeatedly appealed to the relevant authorities to resolve the crisis, but no concrete action or response has been provided. Demonstrators are calling on the responsible bodies to intervene immediately and restore the village’s water supply without further delay.

In response, the United Water Supply Company of Georgia stated that the disruption across several villages in the Senaki and Khobi municipalities was caused by a sharp decline in water yield at the natural source. As a result, headworks are currently unable to intake the volume required for stable system operation.

“The company’s technical teams are working on-site around the clock. All possible technical measures are being taken to distribute existing water resources as efficiently as possible and to restore supply incrementally. We will promptly update the public on any developments,” read the official statement from the United Water Supply Company of Georgia.
