Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, expressed his sympathy and worries over the tragedy that occurred in Shovi resort, so far killing six people and leaving many others missing.
“Together with our population, we are following the events that occurred because of the natural disaster in Racha yesterday with concern, and, naturally and first, we are very sorry for the dead and missing persons,” reads the Patriarch’s statement.
Ilia II called on the parishioners and everyone to pray for those people “whose fate is unknown.”
On August 3, a landslide ravaged the Oni Municipality’s Shovi resort. The death toll has risen to six.
