By-elections of Gori and Kaspi single-mandate MPs and Gurjaani Mayor will be held on October 1 in Georgia.
Natia Ioseliani, Spokesperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) briefed that the election administration was ready to administer the elections in line with the legislation, transparently and on a high-professional level.
According to Natia Ioseliani, by-elections hold special significance in the “process of modernizing elections” since voters of Gori, Kaspi and Gurjaani will use electronic technologies when making their choice on October 1.
“In the cities where the elections are held tomorrow, information about election news is placed on the billboards. It can be said that we used all opportunities to inform the voters,” she said.
Ioseliani said that 133 polling stations will open, with electronic balloting to take place at 103 and 85.3% of voters voting electronically, and at 30 polling stations – with the traditional method of blotting. The number of registered voters is 184,300.
The polling stations will open at 06:45 and the balloting will begin at 08:00. The voters will have to present their ID documents or passports.
Sixteen international and 426 local election observers will monitor the elections.
