“Georgia achieved significant progress on the EU integration path. We expect this progress to be reflected in the European Commission report,” said Mariya Gabriel, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, following the meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili.
According to Mariya Gabriel, Bulgaria is a vigorous supporter of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations and future.
“I would like to reconfirm the decision made by the European Union in June 2022 regarding granting the European Perspective to Georgia. Georgia has made significant progress on the EU integration path. We expect that this progress will soon be reflected in the European Commission’s report. It is important to maintain the level of intensive dialogue and share Bulgaria’s position with other EU member states regarding Georgia’s European Perspective,” she said.
The Bulgarian FM noted that Georgia and Bulgaria share common interests and would continue cooperation in the economy, infrastructure, energy, high technologies, innovations, education and culture spheres.
Mariya Gabriel called on the Georgian government to keep on the reforms and wished success to the Georgian people in the EU integration aspirations. Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili is on a visit to Bulgaria.
