British Embassy supports OSCE/ODHIR in judging Georgian local elections well administered

The British Embassy in Tbilisi says the UK supports OSCE/ODHIR in judging October 2021 Georgian local elections well administered and held in a competitive environment but marred by reports of violations.

“Concerns raised must be addressed. Hope all parties will campaign for the second round in line with best practices,” the Embassy tweeted on Monday.

International observers have released a statement, saying Georgia’s local elections were competitive and technically well administered but marred by widespread allegations of electoral violations, vote-buying, and an unlevel playing field, as well as intimidation and pressure.
