Border Police detain Turkish national in Batumi wanted under Interpol red notice

Border Police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have detained a Turkish citizen, identified as B.I., born in 2000, in Batumi. The Georgian Border Police made the statement.

According to officials, the individual was sought by Turkish law enforcement agencies for international-scale fraud, under an Interpol Red Notice.

“B.I. had entered Georgian territory legally prior to the international alert being issued for him. Extradition procedures, as provided by law, are now underway,” the agency stated.
