Border Police detain three foreign nationals attempting to cross Georgia’s state border in group illegally

Border Police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA) have apprehended three foreign nationals, identified as A.T., born in 1973; N.R., born in 1976; and M.L., born in 1992, for attempting to unlawfully cross the Georgian state border together at the protected section of the Sarpi border sector in Batumi.

According to a statement from the Georgian Border Police, investigations have established that the suspects were attempting to illegally cross the Georgian border as a group from Georgia into the Republic of Türkiye, bypassing the border checkpoint.

“The investigation is being conducted under Article 19-344, Part Two, Subparagraph A of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates a maximum imprisonment of up to five years,” the report states.
