Border Police arrest members of Barış Boyun criminal group operating in Türkiye on drug charges

Employees of the Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service have apprehended two Turkish nationals, identified as S.T., born in 1999, and F.G., born in 2001, on drug-related charges.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the suspects, identified by officers from the State Security Service, are members of the so-called Barış Boyun criminal group, which operates across Türkiye.

“They are accused of illegal purchase and possession of substantial quantities of narcotics and psychotropic substances.

During searches of their personal and temporary residences, law enforcement officers confiscated a significant amount of various narcotics and pills containing psychotropic substances, including MDMA, cannabis, pregabalin, and gabapentin.

The offence carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison. The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260 and 261 of the Criminal Code,” the ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that operative and investigative measures continue in the case to identify and apprehend other members of the so-called Barış Boyun criminal group, which operates across Türkiye.
